  Occupation of Iran

Farzaneh Babaei

Due to its geopolitical situation, Iran has always been a target of encroaching by other neighboring countries including Russia, the British and the Turkey. These three powers were in great rivalry in order to make advances in their programs to get hold of Iran. Despite Iran's announcing neutrality, she was occupied by the Allied forces under Pahlavis after the outset of the second world war in August 24th, 1941. The available documents indicate the occupation of Iran by the British and the Russians in order to divide Iran into two areas of influence to have access to India, and to separate some boundary areas of Iran including Marv, Harat, Siestan and Baluchestan. There are also some reports of the consequences of this occupation which led to famine, high prices, lack of security and devastation of buildings and factories.
