“… In those days, there was no electricity; people would use oil lanterns for light and would burn firewood for cooking and warming their houses. Some used to gather zal shrubs which would grow by roadsides in the deserts. They would dry the shrubs and would burn under the pans and made a kind of very thin bread. All over the district, there was no electricity, except the Etemadieh firm wherein hundreds of workers would work night and days. The firm worked in three shifts and at the turn of each shift the special siren called fidus could be heard for 30 seconds…”
