Son of Mohammad Nassir Tabassi one of the leaders of constitutional revolution, Ayatollah Abdollah Mazandarani was born in 1840 in Babol. Following his primary education he left for Iraq and attended the classes of Fazel Irvani, Mirza Habib-ollah Rashti, Sheikh Mahdi Kashef-alqata, Hajj Sheikh Morteza Ansari, and Hajj Sheikh Zein-alAbedin Mazandarani. He became a Mojtahed and after Mirza Habibollah death, his followers became his followers.

In Iran’s constitutional revolution, Sheikh Abdollah Mazandarani cooperated with Akhund Khorassani and Hajj Mirza Hossein Khalili Tehrani and confirmed the causes of this movement and issued proclamations on the sociopolitical situation of the time. Following the formation of the second Majlis, together with Akhund Khorassani, he wrote a letter to Nasser-al-Molk and criticized the political actions of the movement leaders.

Subsequent to the attempt on Seyyed Abdollah Behbahni’s life, Seyyed Hassan Taghizadeh was charged with cooperation in murder. Following the encroaching of the Russians to the north of Iran, and the invasion of the Italian forces to Libia, along with other Shiite leaders of Iraq, he issued a religious decree against the Russian and Italian invaders. In protest against the occupation of Iran by the Russians, he left for Kazemein and died in 1883 in Najaf and was buried in Sheikh Jafar Shushtari’s resting place.
