"... Anyway, Ehteshamossaltaneh, as he has written in his diary, was never willing to hold the office of Iranian minister to London. He knew that he would not be the favorite of the British court and foreign office, as he would not consent to remain entirely subservient to the British as were Mirza Malkam Khan and Mirza MohammadAli Khan Ala’ossaltaneh during one third of a century’s service in London who had turned it into a immutable tradition. He knew that he would not succeed in his office…”
